Self-Updating Web Sites
WebUpdater helps keep sites fresh and dynamic, and allows someone with no training at all to maintain a Web site without the risk of harming the site's design or performance. I designed WebUpdater to automatically handle a wide range of details that few people have time to deal with, and every function is custom tailored to the particular Web site's needs. Each WebUpdater application is unique, and so it can solve problems that no off-the-shelf package can.
Formatting of content is always a perfect match for the site, no matter how complex. For example, if the first sentence of every news item should be in bold, that's done for you automatically. Or if your phone number should always be shown with dots instead of dashes, WebUpdater notices automatically whenever you paste in text that has it wrong.
Easily change the order of items on a page just by clicking the up and down arrows. No fear of copying and pasting the wrong code.
If multiple pages need to be changed at once, WebUpdater knows that and handles it. For example, if a site has a News sidebar on every page, then every page will show the latest story you've added to the News page.
Links are automatic. If you mention another page on your site, or a product or department, the text is automatically made clickable. If you mention an email address, or another Web site, that will be clickable too.
Changes first appear on a private preview page that you can share with anyone to get approval and feedback—but the public can't see your changes until you are ready.
Content that shouldn't always be visible can be hidden from the public with one click, and then revealed again when you need it. (Perfect for special promos, recurring events or seasonal info.) So you don't have to keep deleting and re-entering the same information.
To add visual interest to your site, WebUpdater keeps a library of your art and photos, ready to be added to any WebUpdater page.
WebUpdater generates standard HTML pages. That means it's compatible with many other means of editing a site: you're not locked into using WebUpdater alone.
